WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
CHOICE OF ONE 50-MINUTE SESSION!

1) Group Evaluations – Linda Fritz and Laura Fritz

This mother daughter Dynamic Duo will give you the experience of Group Evaluations.  Have a speech ready and bring several copies of your evaluation form.  This is an opportunity to not only give a speech but also to receive multiple evaluations, guided by this Dynamic Duo.

2) Panel Discussion on Writing and Self-Publishing Books – Jacki Rose, Cherylle Garnes, Bo Bennett, and John Chapin.  Moderator: Deb Kulkkula

Four authors will discuss what it takes to get your book written and self-published: what to do, mistakes to avoid, and what is involved in each step along the way. They will also be giving you some resources to get you on your way toward self-publishing.

3)Toastmasters: A New Generation – Dr. Carol Anderson, ATM-B

For the first time in history, four generations share the workplace – and Toastmasters!  Has your club thought about intergenerational communication?  Does your club take generational differences into consideration when planning meetings or club events?  How about marketing to attract new members in all generations?

In this session, you will learn the traits and characteristics of the four generations as well as Intergenerational Communication tips and techniques to improve club meetings and motivate members of all generations -- skills you apply in Toastmasters and at work!!

4) Starting and Helping Clubs – Bil Lewis DTM, LGM

A key part of being a member of Toastmasters is helping others succeed.  One way you can do that is by starting new clubs and coaching weak ones.  Our district currently has 30 groups looking to form clubs (note: this meets one of the requirements for AL-S).  This workshop will show you how this is done.

Members with experience in starting clubs are encouraged to attend to discuss the details of what works and what doesn't.   The workshop will cover: a) publicizing the demo meeting, b) running the demo meeting, c) helping the new club organize itself, and d) doing the paperwork – yes, paperwork is part of everything.

Coaching a weak club is quite similar, as much of what you're doing is the same--helping people learn how to run effective meetings and bringing in new members.

Both tasks require leadership. The people you help will be looking up to you for direction and this workshop will prepare you to be ready. It isn't always easy, but it's always worthwhile.
