Do you have trouble attracting
new members sometimes? We had
that problem. Then we discovered
a magic way of attracting guests
that we’d like to share with
you:
Ask Them!
Yes, it sounds kinda silly. Of
course people are more likely to
visit our clubs if we ask them
to. But for some reason, many of
us have trouble inviting our
friends and colleagues. (I think
it’s connected with a feeling of
“Who am I to tell them what they
should do?”)
Anyway, many of us have found it
much more comfortable to invite
people if we have a specific
reason. For example, if we’re
speaking. It’s much easier for
many of us to say:
“Hi, Jan. You know I’m in
Toastmasters. I’m giving a
speech next Friday, and I wonder
if you’d be interested in
coming? I’d really appreciate
your thoughts.”
So that’s our district
membership campaign for the
fall. For the next six months,
speakers invite guests. It’s
simple, it worked for my club,
but it only works if everyone
actually does it. And that part
takes effort.
Here’s how we make it happen:
