Inspired by the works of
gifted speakers such as Maya
Angelou, Eleanor Roosevelt,
and Martin Luther King, Jr.,
Katherine Morrison
originally joined
Toastmasters in 1999 to
improve her skills as a
public speaker.
She received her CTM
that very same year.
Since that time,
Katherine has had many
opportunities to use the
skills that she has gained
as a Toastmaster.
She has been a
teacher, a scholar, and an
inspirational speaker to a
number of organizations.
She graduated in 2003
with a doctorate in Public
Health from the
University
of
South Carolina.
She is currently an
Assistant Professor at
Curry
College
(Milton,
MA).
In 2005 Katherine was the
first place winner of the
District 31 Humorous Speech
contest.
In 2008, she was the
first-place winner of first
the District 31 and then the
Region 7 International
Speech Contest.
On
August 16th 2008,
out of 25,000 contestants,
Katherine placed 3rd
at the World Championship of
Public Speaking.
She also helped to
make history as this was the
first time in Toastmasters
that two women placed in the
top three at this
prestigious competition. |
